CHARITY FUN RUN IN SUPPORT OF AUNTIE OLGA’S NEEDY CHILDREN’S FUND

From Independence Square to the Ship Inn
Registration $15 for youth 16 and under, $25 for adults
The Ship Inn’s Charity Fun Run is a great family event and has raised over $300,000 since 1989 in support of various charities. We’ve also provided much needed supplies and equipment to the school who signs up the most runners. 2007 marked record-breaking attendance and the largest amount raised in the history of the event! With your kind and generous support, we plan to keep that level of support and enthusiasm for 2008 and beyond.
Once again we’re proud to be supporting Auntie Olga’s Needy Children’s Fund which has been in existence for some 43 years and has helped thousands of families.
Every family that is given help has been seen by her personally. After investigating and ascertaining the worthiness of an appeal, practical help is given by way of food vouchers, school uniforms, shoes, textbooks, etc. Auntie Olga is very hands on and doesn’t just give handouts – she follows through on the progress of the people she helps, saying, “I am not pouring water in a basket. I require a report on good behaviour and regular attendance.”
At Christmas there is a Christmas Party for the children, their mothers and a number of poor senior citizens on the Harbour Master. All of the children are outfitted and each child is given a toy in keeping with his/her age and sex. Throughout the year, food vouchers are issued and other help required (spectacles, doctor checkups and other assistance) is given.
The Fun Run is seeking to partner with your organisation to make this event even more successful than last year, and we are offering you the opportunity to align your brand with a positive and worthwhile cause. Our goal is to finalize all sponsorship by January 1, 2008 (we start printing the t-shirts early February) and we hope you will provide your kind and generous assistance in any or all of the following areas:
• Sponsorship of T-shirts - We are expecting approximately 4000 people to take part in the event and we’d like your support to sponsor t-shirts for some of the participants and/or your own corporate team. Your logo will be placed on the back of each shirt that you sponsor. The cost per shirt is approximately $12 plus VAT. Sponsors will be billed directly from the t-shirt supplier. Minimum order 100.
• Form a Corporate Team – you can use the t-shirts you sponsor to form a Corporate Team as well as to be used for general sale to the public. Should you be interested in forming a team, if your numbers are 100 or higher we can offer a discount on the registration fee for your staff.
• Participant Prizes - The motto of The Fun Run is"Everyone's a Winner!" by doing something for the community and for their own health. We also try to give each registrant a prize to take home. That means we’re seeking 4000 prizes! That’s a pretty tall order to fill and we do our very best to see that no one goes home disappointed, particularly the children. Donations of items such as toys, mugs, t-shirts, pens, electronics, keychains, household items, gift certificates, gym memberships or other appropriate items are welcomed and encouraged as prizes for children, teens and adults.
• School Prize - the school which signs up the
most participants receives a prize, so we're looking for contributions towards a prize package of cash, gift certificates, sports equipment, paint, school supplies and other school-related items. Every penny counts!
• Newspaper Ads - We are also looking for
sponsorship of newspaper ads to publicise the event.
Your company's logo and slogan will appear in the ad.
A ¼ page colour ad is approximately $1,000, black
and white approximately $500. We’re looking for
ads for an advertorial (your ad agency would do the
design for advertorial ads – due Feb 1) and also to
appear in the weeks leading up to the event (we
would provide design for those non-advertorial ads
using the logo and slogan you submit)
• Children's Fun Area – We are seeking funding
for this area at the end of the run with clowns,
jumping tents, face-painting, games, and other fun
activities. Toys, games, balloons, decorating services,
and any other kids activities may also be donated.
